The staff at William Howard and Co. Financial Advisors Inc. is dedicated to providing exceptional service in a professional and confidential manner.

William B. Howard, Jr. ChFC®, CFP® - President
William is President of William Howard & Co. with 37 years of experience advising clients on financial matters. As expert, author, and leader, William brings financial skills and seasoned knowledge to his clients and his community.

By 1994, Worth Magazine had already listed him as one of the top 60 financial planners in the USA. He has been included ten times as part of Medical Economics Magazine’s list of “Top 150 Advisors for Doctors.” He has been named as a Memphis Magazine 5 Star Wealth Manager for eight consecutive years since 2008. The Dental Practice Report has listed William as one of “Best Financial Advisers for Dentists” for the past five years.
 
Mr. Howard has published articles in Medical Economics, American Medical News, Physician’s Management, and the Journal of Financial Planning. He is also a financial columnist for Medical Society Quarterly, a publication of the Memphis Medical Society.
 
He has been frequently quoted in the press publications such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Business Week, Medical Economics, and Investor’s Business Daily. Local news networks have interviewed William on financial related topics, and he was a regular guest panelist for a local cable television investment series. His firm’s success story has been featured in local and national media.
 
William received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi, continuing on to receive the Charted Financial Consultant and Certified Financial Planner® professional designations. He is a founding board member, past president and chairperson of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Memphis. He is a member of the editorial review board for the Journal of Financial Planning and a past member of the adjunct faculty of the College for Financial Planning.
 
He is a member of the Memphis Planned Giving Council and the Financial Planning Association. William was selected Memphis Executive of the Year in 2009 by the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

Sheila C. Akin - Registered Paraplanner
Sheila works closely with the financial planners in all areas of the planning process. Her responsibilities include organizing client data and creating the reports and assumptions used in the financial analyses. She is responsible for financial plan updates and retainer services as well as training staff members in these areas.
 
She joined the firm in 1996 after earning a BA in Management Information Systems from the University of Memphis and working with a local CPA firm for seven years. She received her Registered Paraplanner (RP®) designation in 1998.

Brian D. Barthol - Financial Analyst
Brian joined William Howard in 1997 as a Financial Planning Intern and after completing his graduate work, became a full-time member of the firm in 2000. His job duties include financial planning analysis, performance reporting, portfolio monitoring, as well as securities and market analysis.
 
He provides research, writing, and editing assistance in the creation of the quarterly investment newsletter, and he manages the company website. He helps with client services and daily portfolio reconciliation. Brian received a BBA in financial services and a MBA from the University of Memphis.

Judy B. Carmichael, CAP-OM® - Executive Assistant/Financial Planning Assistant
Judy serves as the Executive Assistant and Financial Planning Assistant. In these roles, she assists with a wide range of client services, office management, and the financial planning process. Judy joined the firm in 1999 with 15 years of experience in the banking industry.
 
She earned her Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation in 2001, the Organizational Management (CAP-OM) designation in 2006, and the Registered Paraplanner (RP®) designation in 2013. She is presently working toward a BBA in Marketing from Strayer University.

Sandra L. Owens - Client Services Director, Chief Compliance Officer
Sandra joined the firm in January 1996 and has experience in all facets of investment advisor fiduciary and regulatory obligations. Prior to joining William Howard, Sandra served as an assistant vice president, operations/compliance for a private equity investment firm (1990-1996). Her experience includes serving as a regional associate with an inter-capital mutual fund department (1988–1990) and as an administrative manager with an investment bankers group (1982–1988).
 
Sandra is the primary contact for client relations with Charles Schwab & Co. where she is in charge of all areas of client services, systems administration, and daily portfolio reconciliation. Her responsibilities include establishing investment accounts and portfolio transfers, validating client investment activity, and providing services specific to retirement plans. As Chief Compliance Officer she ensures adherence to all rules and regulations that govern the firm and the securities industry

Christopher D. Pack - Financial Analyst
Chris joined the firm in 1996 as a Financial Planning Intern. His duties include portfolio monitoring, securities and market analysis, and investment planning. He is also responsible for statistical analysis and modeling, performance reporting, and special projects. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Finance from Excelsior College in New York.
 
Chris is a retired Captain with 26 years in the Active Army and National Guard. He served two Combat Tours in Baghdad and Iraq. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.
